To Tahoe and Back: An Exercise in Mental Well-Being

I've been... down lately. Between family stuff, friend stuff, and job dissatisfaction, I haven't quite felt like my usual optimistic self. So when a co-worker/friend and her husband invited a few of us up to their newly-built house in Tahoe, I was all in!

We arrived at their house to find much more than a cabin in the woods:

As soon as we woke up, we bundled up and headed out.

As a first-time skier, I was told to "wait by the sun for your lesson." As if I couldn't read the "First Time Skiers" sign right behind the sun?

My lesson was GREAT and my instructor told me that I was a natural! So I wasted no time getting up to the steeper slopes. Taking a picture with Scott up there proved to be one of the toughest feats of the day....

... but eventually, we made it!

The next day, we ventured out for a snowshoe excursion. The snowshoes were much easier to manage than the skis, and kept us at a nice, slow pace. That was welcome after a full day of skiing!

And oh..... the views!

Needless to say, my disposition was much improved after spending some time with nature, friends, and husband. And we plan on going back very, very soon.
