I'm not one of those people, however. The reason I think they're silly is because I spend every month of the year setting resolutions for myself! I'm a goal-setter. It's what I do. I make lists of goals for the day, for the week, for the month, and for the year. Scott and I set goals for ourselves and challenge each other with goals to keep ourselves accountable.
So in the spirit of the New Year, I'll set some resolutions (although I call them goals, so there!) and the steps I plan on taking to achieve them.
Goal #1: Build my Creative Memories business. I will achieve this by verbally spreading the word about my business, inviting people to my workshops and events, and engaging people in conversations about their photos.
Goal #2: Lose 10 lbs. Ever since I stopped running (due to a toe injury that I have on both feet), I have been quickly packing on the pounds. I've enrolled in a boot camp for January and hope to have 10 lbs. gone by March!
Goal #3: Pursue a new job title within my school district. While I love teaching, I'm ready for a new challenge. The current budget crisis means that I might not have any opportunities for a change in my field, but I'm sure going to keep my eyes and ears open! March/April will be key months for this.
Goal #4: Pay down credit card debt. I would be lying if I said that the wedding in August didn't put us into a bit of debt. I wouldn't change a thing about it, but it's now my responsibility (and Scott's, of course) to eliminate what's left of our debt so we can save for other things!Goal #5: Keep my house clean. Ugh. I really need to work on this. We have beautiful hardwood floors, and in our living room we have a carpet that is made of wool. The wool carpet sheds like crazy!! I can vacuum the whole house, and by the time I'm done, little wool strands are already making their way onto the hardwood from the carpet. It's awful. I need to get some major Swiffer action up in this place to keep this under control.
That's it! 5 goals are enough for now. I'm excited for 2009, I think it's going to bring a lot of change to our country and some great things for Scott, myself, and our marriage.
Cheers!
