Victory!

What an amazing night in history! Being part of an election that gave us our first ever African-American President was emotional, uplifting, and will be remembered for the rest of my life. I had the good fortune of attending a party at my good friend Sarah's (you may know her as sfgirl75), where we wore our Obama Mama shirts, ate "Yes on 2" Deviled Eggs, drank "Mav-rickies," and enjoyed "Red State and Blue State" jello shots. A good time was had by ALL. You might also notice in the picture above, our favorite illustrator-to-the-brides, Stinkerpants (Sara) and even the Wedding Planner Extraordinaire, Izanassi (Lisa!).

I brought along my Blue State Cupcakes, and we enjoyed eating our blue allies as we celebrated a HUGE victory by Obama.

We must not underestimate the giant change our country is about to go through. Over the last 8 years, I have found myself growing disdainful and even shameful of the United States. George Bush has been an embarassment, tanking our economy and keeping our soldiers overseas in an unnecessary war for the sake of his own foolish pride. The times are changing and I have faith that while Barack Obama may not be able to fix ALL of the errors of the past 8 years, he is our greatest hope for improvement, and it will begin January 20th.

Congratulations Barack Obama, and GOOD JOB voters of AMERICA!!!!

On a much less excited note, Prop 8 passed and California proved that it is not quite as liberal and loving as I thought it was. This was a severe disappointment to me, as I fully expected California to reject such a discriminatory, unnecessary proposition that is backed by so much hate. What a giant step backwards for our state. I am trying my hardest to be happy about our Presidential results, but this is very present in the front of my mind.

For a breakdown on how California voted on each race in this election, visit this site from the LA Times.
